Kat Von D Thunderstruck Metal Crush Eyeshadow ($21.00 for 0.10 oz.) is described as a “metallic pearl.” It’s a brightened, white gold beige with warmer undertones and a very subtle pink tinge to it. It had more of a pearly sheen than an overtly metallic one. It had good color coverage with a very soft, finely-milled texture that was dense and buttery while still wearing for eight and a half hours on me. NARS Andromeda (P, $29.00) is brighter. Kat Von D Thrasher Metal Crush Eyeshadow ($21.00 for 0.10 oz.) is described as a “metallic gold.” It’s a brightened, rich molten gold with warm undertones and a metallic sheen. It was intensely pigmented with a really creamy, buttery, and dense texture that blended out beautifully without losing any of its intensity. The texture has a really cream-like feel to it, but it was still easy to work with and didn’t thicken up on the lid. On me, it wore for nine hours before creasing. Kat Von D Synergy Metal Crush Eyeshadow ($21.00 for 0.10 oz.) is described as a “metallic bronze.” It’s a muted, medium-dark brown with warm undertones and a soft, gray-ish tinge–it’s almost a taupe brown, but it leans a little too bronze to really be a taupe in my eyes. The texture was soft, blendable, and a little less dense compared to some of the other shades, but it still applied really evenly and smoothly to bare lids, though it has a little fall out during application if you aren’t careful. Kat Von D Raw Power Metal Crush Eyeshadow ($21.00 for 0.10 oz.) is described as an “iridescent intense garnet.” It’s a medium-dark, reddish-burgundy wtih warm, orange undertones and a frosted sheen. The texture was very dense and thicker, and it made it prone to almost over-applying color–it looks like it is almost “powdery” in the swatch, but it’s really how it thickens. It is very pigmented, and I’d highly recommend applying with less pressure than you think to ensure a smooth, opaque result. It wore well for nine hours before fading. Kat Von D Danzig Metal Crush Eyeshadow ($21.00 for 0.10 oz.) is described as a “pearlescent violet.” It’s a brightened, medium-dark violet purple with cool undertones and a pearly sheen. It had good color payoff with a fairly soft, smooth consistency that was just a smidgen firm in the pan compared to other shades, so it didn’t have the same buttery feel–smooth but just not as dense. The color translated well on the skin with the same intensity and blended out well. On me, it wore for eight hours before fading. It is one of the better purple eyeshadows on the market, and a cool-toned one at that. Inglot #439 (P, $6.00) is darker, warmer. FORMULA SUMMARY | Kat Von D Metal Crush Eyeshadow ($21.00 for 0.10 oz.) is supposed to have “maximum pigment and extreme wear” with a “creamy and lustrous” finish available in eleven shades (though only ten are online at the moment). The texture of the majority of the shades is very soft, dense, thick, and creamy; they feel more like a hybrid of cream and powder than your typical powder. All ten shades were quite pigmented when pressed into the skin with a flat or firm brush (MAC 242), and while almost all of the shades applied well with your regular eyeshadow brush (like MAC’s 239), one shade didn’t work as well (Raw Power) as it was more sparkly and didn’t bind together as well. The formula was long-wearing on me with wear ranging from eight to nine hours. I found the texture comparable to Make Up For Ever Diamond/Metallic finish eyeshadows, though these are larger (0.10 oz. vs. 0.08 oz.)

Kat Von D Echo Everlasting Liquid Lipstick ($20.00 for 0.22 fl. oz.) is described as a “satin navy blue.” It’s a muted, navy blue with a purple-leaning and strong, cool undertones with a matte finish. It had semi-opaque color payoff with a more difficult application, as it can be streaky to work with. It’s a stunning shade on, but it requires work, and at least two layers of product. Once on, the color lasted for almost eight hours with minimal fading/breakdown, though it felt a little drying after six hours for me. MAC Matte Royal (P, $16.00) is brighter, cooler, glossier. Kat Von D Witches Everlasting Liquid Lipstick ($20.00 for 0.22 fl. oz.) is described as a “pitch black.” It’s a medium-dark black with neutral undertones and a matte finish. It had mostly opaque color coverage that went on fairly evenly (though room for improvement!) and was easy enough to apply. I would recommend going back in and touching-up areas that need a little more product while it is still in the drying phase. I loved how this looked on the lips, though; it wasn’t a totally flat matte on, and it is one of the better-applying black lipsticks I have. The color wore for eight and a half hours with little breakdown and started to feel drying at the sixth hour. Make Up For Ever #50 (P, $19.00) is glossier. FORMULA SUMMARY | Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick ($20.00 for 0.22 fl. oz.) is supposed to be a “long-wear, full coverage liquid lipstick with a smooth, matte finish.” Of the liquid lipsticks on the market that go and have a full dry-down, Kat Von D’s formula remains my favorite, as it is the easiest to apply with the kindest learning curve and lasts awhile. Some shades are more drying than others, but typically they don’t get drying until after five to six hours of wear. They often wear anywhere from six to ten hours, depending on what you’ve had to eat or drink during the day. This formula is thin but not watery, has a longer dry down than most liquid lipsticks (but I noticed some of the newer shades dried to a mostly dry finish faster), and layers better than most (you can touch-up or add a second layer for more coverage). It takes about a minute for it to mostly set, but it will remain a little tacky in places for up to three minutes so you’ll want to avoid pressing your lips together if it doesn’t seem totally dry initially. There isn’t a noticeable scent or taste. If you don’t mind the trade-off between very long, near-pristine wear and being drying, it’s worth checking out. As a bonus, these also come with one of the most generous amounts of products within the realm of liquid lipsticks!

Kat Von D Requiem Everlasting Liquid Lipstick ($20.00 for 0.22 fl. oz.) is described as a “soft lilac.” It’s a softened, light-medium pinky lavender with neutral-to-cool undertones and a flat, matte finish. It had mostly opaque pigmentation (there’s a very faint shadow of my lip freckle peeking through). The drying time on this shade was more in line with the rest of the range, so you’ll want to avoid pressing your lips together for about two minutes or so to maintain your smooth application. This shade lasted for seven hours on me with some fading becoming visible after five hours, and it was a little drying after six hours. MAC Dress it Up (P, $18.00) is darker, glossier. Kat Von D Ayesha Everlasting Liquid Lipstick ($20.00 for 0.22 fl. oz.) is described as a “rich lavender.” It’s a muted, medium-dark purple with almost neutral undertones and a matte finish. It is a more challenging shade to apply, as the texture seemed to dry quickly and had a tendency to “crack” once dry. It didn’t apply evenly, and it felt moderately drying after four hours of wear. The color lasted closer to seven and a half hours, but it had faded unevenly. It’s a very interesting color, one that I don’t have much like, but it is finicky. It had good color coverage (almost opaque) that went on smoothly and evenly, but the dry down seemed to emphasize the the natural texture of the lips a little more than other shades, like Double Dare. Kat Von D Nosferatu Everlasting Liquid Lipstick ($20.00 for 0.22 fl. oz.) is described as a “blood crimson.” It’s a deepened, medium-dark red with subtle, warmer undertones (I think it may lean more neutral on cooler skin tones) with a matte finish. It had semi-opaque color payoff that went on evenly, but you can tell it’s not fully opaque as my lip freckle comes through noticeably. There is enough time to work with it, so you could add more product to improve payoff while initially applying the color. It lasted for eight and a half hours and looked little worse for the wear at that point. To me, it started to feel drying at the six hour mark. MAC Extended Play (DC, $18.00) is darker, warmer. It had rich, opaque color payoff that went on smoothly and evenly, which was a nice surprise. The texture was soft, dried down quickly enough not to feel like it took forever to dry but gave you enough time to work with it to get crisp edges. It lasted for six and a half hours on me with light fading along the center of the lips but not enough to be jarring. It felt a bit drying after five hours of wear. It had semi-opaque color coverage that went on moderately evenly. It could have applied better, but it didn’t look noticeably streaky from a normal viewing distance, only when close-up. Kat Von D Damned Everlasting Liquid Lipstick ($20.00 for 0.22 fl. oz.) is described as a “black cherry.” It’s a blackened burgundy with warm, red undertones and a matte finish. It had semi-opaque color payoff as well, which had similar issues where it didn’t look all that even up-close, but it was okay from afar. There is room for improvement, but the more matte dry down helped it have better results than other shades in this family (which are often troublesome to apply). It had nearly opaque pigmentation that went on smoothly and evenly, though the texture dried down in such a way that it seemed to emphasize the natural texture of the lips slightly more than other shades in the range. Kat Von D Solo Studded Kiss Lipstick ($21.00 for 0.10 oz.) is described as a “metallic gold-kissed tangerine.” It’s a light-medium, yellowed orange with gold pearl and a frosted, matte finish. It is much lighter than Halo but shares the same type of finish. This shade had more shimmer in it, and you can feel the texture of the shimmer when applying and if you press your lips together. It had mostly opaque pigmentation, while the lipstick had a light creaminess so it glided across the lips but didn’t feel clingy. The color wore for six and a half hours but was moderately drying after three hours of wear. MAC Sounds Like Noise (LE, $17.00) is less shimmery, darker (85% similar). FORMULA SUMMARY | Kat Von D Studded Kiss Lipstick ($21.00 for 0.10 oz.) is supposed to have “bold color” with “long-lasting wear and luxe comfort.” I reviewed several of these shades when they were first released, and a lot of them were so dry that they were stiff to the point of dragging, tugging, and were nearly painful to apply, though not all. I was completely surprised by the recent release of new shades (all permanent), as many of them were surprisingly creamy, comfortable to apply, and really felt like a major departure from a lot of the ones I had tried from the initial release.

Kat Von D Piaf Studded Kiss Lipstick ($21.00 for 0.10 oz.) is described as a “cool chocolate with purple shimmer.” It’s a deepened red-toned brown with fine violet shimmer. The shimmer is what makes it harder to dupe. It’s a chameleon of a color as the undertone seems to shift a lot depending on the natural light; sometimes it looks cooler, sometimes it is warmer, and sometimes it appears very dark and other times more of a true brown. The texture had some slip, and it applied without tugging, though the consistency has some tackiness to it applied. It didn’t apply evenly, and it only had semi-opaque coverage. The lipstick lasted for six hours, was lightly drying, and settled into lip lines noticeably after four hours of wear. Kat Von D Damned (P, $20.00) is less shimmery, less glossy (90% similar). Kat Von D Nayeon Studded Kiss Lipstick ($21.00 for 0.10 oz.) is described as a “pitch black with gunmetal shimmer.” It’s a dark, charcoal black with l ighter silver and gray shimmer with a neutral-to-warm undertone (the base pulls a bit brownish on me). The texture of the lipstick has a noticeable “grit” from the sparkle, though it isn’t sharp or painful to use, but you can tell the lipstick is packed full of shimmery bits. It is one of the better-applying black lipsticks I’ve tried, as it didn’t tug on the lips at all, and there was enough creaminess that it covered well without streaking. It could have applied more evenly, though, and it may be a shade where a good lip liner or lip pencil may take it the rest of the way. Kat Von D Tijuana Studded Kiss Lipstick ($21.00 for 0.10 oz.) is described as a “vibrant Spanish red.” It’s a bright, medium red with neutral-to-cool undertones. I see pink in the base when I sheer it out, but it pulls closer to neutral to warm against my skin tone. The texture is lightweight and comfortable to wear for the first five hours, and then it gets a little drying after that but wears closer to eight hours. It applies evenly and smoothly without dragging, though it isn’t quite as creamy as a shade like Magick, it is a lot easier to apply than the original Studded Kiss line was for me. The finish is more of a frosted satin then matte, though it becomes more matte after a few hours of wear. At last, the final shade in the Metal Crush Eyeshadow range has been released! It’s a really stunning range, and certainly one of the better eyeshadow formulas to-date. I was impressed by the other nine, and Doce is another slam dunk. It was intensely pigmented with a dense, buttery, and creamy consistency that glided across the skin beautifully without losing intensity. The texture adhered well to bare lids and lasted for nine hours on me.

Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick ($20.00 for 0.22 fl. oz.) released several new (and permanent!) shades just in time for fall, and I’ve reviewed them all for you. Overall, it’s a pretty good batch; some of the darker, vampier shades weren’t great, but the formula is more forgiving and you can solve sheerer coverage by applying a second layer (without it causing application problems). Kat Von D’s formula remains my personal favorite when it comes to the liquid lipstick type of product, as it is the least drying, most comfortable to wear, and easiest to apply.

Kat Von D Mi Vida Loca Remix Palette ($59.00 for 0.96 oz.) includes twenty-four eyeshadows in an assortment of rainbow hues and neutral tones. The palette is massive in width and length (but thin), and it includes nearly a whole ounce of product, so you’re not getting short-changed on quantity either. The Shade + Light Eye palette has 0.60 oz. of product for $46.00 or $76.67/oz., and with this larger palette, you’re paying $61.46/oz. Kat Von D Mi Vida Loca Remix Studded Kiss Lipstick Set ($42.00 for 0.38 oz.) includes one full-size and seven miniature-sized Studded Kiss Lipstick. The full-sized shade is also the only limited edition/exclusive shade, as the other seven are part of the permanent range. Each Studded Kiss lipstick retails for $21.00 and includes 0.10 oz. or $210.00/oz., which means this set has $79.80 worth of lipstick in it. This year’s kit seemed to hold up better during application as none of the miniature-sized lipsticks broke while applying. I’m still testing each shade for wear and the like, but the application and consistency was different in these compared to their full-sized versions (notably, Halo and Nayeon, which had much more glitter and slip).
